First, welcome aboard!

Second...

- Schedule: Julie will publish the details of each event AFTER the previous event is complete. So don't expect to see the March Road Atl schedule and details until mid-to-late February.

- Tech Inspection: You cannot self-tech, so you will need to coordinate an inspection with one of the official inspection stations or have it completed at the track the evening before the event. Inspection process is here: http://nasa-se.com/tech-inspection/ and the Tech Stations are here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... edit#gid=0.

- Instruction: Laura is the Chief Instructor and she pairs all DE1 students with an instructor. She will look at your experience as well as your car (for size issues) and assign you an appropriate instructor.

A quick correction here. In HPDE you absolutely can self inspect your car. There is no need to pay a shop for that. Racing has different requirements but you aren't there yet. Look forward to seeing you out there.

Well, I like the news that you're giving me so feel free to post it as many times as you'd like. :D

After reviewing the HPDE tech form, it's all visual stuff, no real mechanical inspection. Seems completely reasonable to self-inspect.

Are we 100% sure that this is the case though? I don't want to show up on Saturday morning ready to drive, only to find out that I don't pass and my expensive track weekend is a bust.

I am 100% sure, but I am also capable of being 100% wrong on occasion. To get real official answers you can email Jim Pantas (jimpantas@nasa-se.com) or Julie Pantas (registration@nasa-se.com). Or you can find them on the National Auto Sports Association Southeast Region Facebook page

I asked Grand Pubah Pantas to chime in on this. I'll update my post once I see an official response. Not that I don't think Mikey is not official or anything, LOL.

Lucid Moments is right (sorry brkntrxn) - for HPDE, anyone who feels comfortable as a mechanic can tech the car and sign the HPDE Tech form. It is always a good practice to have another mechanic look it over as well since you'll be traveling at high speeds and want to make sure everything is in good working order. Also, make sure your car has some type of rollover protection that clears the occupants heads with helmets on (ie. "Broomstick test")

But brkntrxn is correct when it comes to race cars and some time trials cars that want annual inspections. He is also correct about the schedule, we will post it about a week before the event because we try to maximize the amount of track time that everyone gets and juggle sessions based on participation. Case in point, we are combining race groups next week at Roebling so they get 4 races - although one will be an IFU for fun.

Here is a link that explains everything you wanted to know about Tech Inspections:
http://nasa-se.com/tech-inspection/

And you can find this link on many of the NASA-SE webpages near the bottom.

Hope this helps, and as always if you have any questions the fastest response will be by simply emailing registration@nasa-se.com

See you at the track!
