I cut a 12.5 @ 115 in my blown 05 Mustang GT at RIC drag.

Granny shifting though, so she's got something in the 11's if I want to push the issue.

Drag racing? Uh…I must be on the wrong forum. :? I thought this group was the brake, heel-toe, shift, turn, accelerate, turn, rinse and repeat crowd. 15 seconds or less = no fun to me. And I thought autocross runs were short.

I was a drag racer for over 10 years. Raced everything from Super Stock 455 pontiac's to GN's.
Best car was still the mustang. Blower and stroker kit led to low 9's. Best with total streetability was still the GN. low 10's and a/c no porblem. awesome!

Now nothing but the mustang.

Used to have a Galant VR4. Ran a 12.28 @ 109. Stock turbo, lots o boost, and a 75 shot. That's currently still the stock turbo record for that car.

As most people stated, I started road racing (not so much racing yet) for more track time, and it's more of a challenge. In order for drag racing to be really fun you need to either bracket race (try to run the same time every time, yay) or do it at the pro level.

But I still have the drag racer in me, I will take my Stealth to the strip once or twice just to see what it will do. I'm expecting a fair amount quicker than the Galant was. As much fun as corners are, I need something to fill the time between (or make it shorter). Or you can look at it the other way around, road courses are just a number of different length drag strips put together, and only timed at one spot.

Road Racing is only a drag race from corner to corner:)
I Raced with the NMCA from 94 to98 and NHRA for 25 years. Still have a legit 7 second Pro Street 1959 Corvette that I drive around town often. That car has been in every national magazine on the newstands over the years. My Daily Driver is a 65 Malibu that runs mid 11's on goodyear F1's with only a 3:08 gear and a 540 street big block. Just for fun I Ran it with NASA once. It pulls over 1G lateral. I ran some low 1:40's at the south track in Joliet. not bad for a 4000lb muscle car with a drag racer driving. You can see that car in Popular Hot rodding this month. And in an upcoming issue of Super Chevy.
Current Road Racer is almost done. 65 Corvette with an all aluminum 565ci big block. Plan for the car is Super Unlimited Touring. 850hp 2800lbs. this should be fun. For me BIG drag race power in a Road course machine rules!
Drag racing isn't for everyone. But I love it and love road racing just as much. They are both completely different and a ton of fun. Kutos to you guys who enjoy both. One thing common to both arenas are the great people in Auto sports. There's No Dog fighting here.

Crewed for AA/FD in 1960's. One of the first AA/FDs to break 200MPH on the East Coast.

13.5 @ 100 MPH in current 99 Camaro.
