I have a 2015 Mustang GT that I've messed around with at Drift Events but would like to get into road racing. The car has everything completely stock other than the cage, coilovers, seats, and a hydro e brake which I can remove. My main questions is how large is usually the field? is it a popular series? Also where are the events mostly ran and what region? I'm located in las vegas if there's events near me.

I'm on the east coast but AI is popular over here....not sure about where you are.

You'd need to go through the HPDE program but sounds like you may already have a head start with some driving skill. The brake won't do you any good so you'll be removing it soon. Go to a local event for HPDE and go introduce yourself to the AI drivers. I've never met a class driver that wasn't excited to talk to potential new drivers (unless you walk up right before he's going out to race!)

Also my cage is 1.5 x .095 tubing size if that can pass

https://www.nasaproracing.com/rules lists the general rules at the top including CCR’s (Club Codes and Regulations), then has info for time trials, and then for the individual other series. For example, if you were going to run ST4, then you would check out the main CCRs at https://nasa-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/do ... 2017.8.pdf and also the Super Touring rules. Section 15.6 of https://nasa-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/do ... 2017.8.pdf has info on roll cages, and 15.6.18 has size info below, so if your car is 2501-3000 lbs (without fuel or driver), then 1.500x0.095 sounds like it wouldn’t be enough for wheel to wheel racing, but I believe that it would be fine for running thru HPDE and also Time Trials, but just not for wheel to wheel racing. - Jim

15.6.18 Roll Cage Tubing Sizes
For the purposes of determining roll bar tubing sizes, vehicle weight is as raced, but without fuel and driver. Note: There is an allowance of minus 0.010 inches on all tubing thicknesses. Minimum tubing size for the roll cage is:

1501 - 2500 lbs
1.500” x 0.095” Seamless Alloy (4130), Seamless mild steel (CDS Mechanical), DOM, or Docol R8 (only)
1.500” x 0.120” ERW* (No issuance of log books for cars with ERW cages) *Note- Specifications listed only for
reference for inspection of grandfathered vehicles.

2501 - 3000 lbs
1.500” x 0.120” Seamless Alloy (4130), Seamless mild steel (CDS Mechanical), DOM, or Docol R8 (only)
1.750” x 0.095” Seamless Alloy (4130), Seamless mild steel (CDS Mechanical), DOM, or Docol R8 (only)
