That time of the year gents...

With the East and West Championships being mid sept/oct we will modifiy our RCR timeline a little this year. So far we have not received much so I guess everyone must be in that happy place

All season – RCRs submitted and addressed
Oct 21st – RCRs done. RCRs open for public comment.
Nov 15st – Rules pack submitted to Nasa HQ
Nov 30th – Rules approved and released

If you have any please get them in by Oct 21st..

RCR's are done for this year. Here is the list we have, please keep any comments constructive...

RCR-AI-093016 dyno procedure change - ignore power below 3000, turbo cars make high/max tq very low, 2000rpm or so and this is not
in the typical rpm range seen on track.
RCR-AI-100616a dq's / zero points count for season points can not drop dq
RCR-AI-100616b season dyno sheet must be with +-15hp of dyno compliance test or DQ for making power changes
RCR-AI-100616C if dyno compliance test greater than +-15hp from season dyno, season dyno becomes invalid and compliance dyno
becomes new season dyno and must pay for dyno test.
RCR-AI-100616d clarify track width language to include 'tire buldge'
RCR-AI-100716a log max throttle angle via ecu for compliance dyno
RCR-AI-100716b update language to include 'air filter tape not permitted as restrictor
RCR-AI-102216 allow spare tire well to be removed
RCR-AI-102716 change eligible years to 1960-2014, exclude 2015 up

RCR-SI-100616 open tuning
RCR-SI-102116 change tq ratio from 11.25:1 to 11:1

RCR-all-102016a update rulebook with contact info for acquiring windshield banner ai,aix,si
RCR-all-102116a seal computer, ecu, obdii, elect ports, SI/AI.

RCR-all-102116a seal computer, ecu, obdii, elect ports, SI/AI.

Hey,I'll start....
Whats the need in sealing these when all the SI cars are making as much as they can.
And how do we plug a code reader in and clear codes that come up?

Oh and with all the AI requests looks like y'all fellows got some issues.Ever thought about Spec Iron?

I agree with Robert, I'm against sealing components. I use the OBD2 port for my racecapturepro system (data acquisition)

We are working on an AI item in regards to swapping tunes and are thinking of sealing ports to control it. Since there was an RCR to allow open tune in SI if that happens we might consider sealing ports as well. It is common place for AI cars to swap tunes depending on track and dyno variations as well as swap ballast but the issue is a lot of folks do not fill out the required spec sheet that goes with the dyno graph and further people swap tunes without redynoing the car which is required. So sealing a port does have its issues, ie no code reading or data logging. Any other issues with sealing the port?

AI to Spec Iron? Nah, that'd be like going back to preschool...

I agree with both of them For SI don't agree with sealed OBD2 for SI. I also use my OBD2 to run my gauges. I dont think in SI there would be tune swaps since the cars can only make so much HP.
I do like the chance to open tuning for SI might help out the SI cars that is not making the HP to make WT of the car.

Exactly my point Al! Preschool was a lot more fun.We got milk, cookies and got to take naps! I didn't start getting butt whooping til I got in grade school!..

If that rule gets approved I assume the series director would need to supervise reading codes and erasing them to fix the problems?
As far as using the port to operate data could this be pig tailed on to the port somehow?

It is difficult to comment based on just the title, all seem unnssasary and most all create enforcement issues. They sound like someone got dq'd and want to hangs the rules vs fixing the problem. Tire buldge really at a constant pressure would all cars have the same buldge making it fair to slap on tow plates to measure.
