My name is Brandon. This is my first try at getting a car together. I'm already working with a 79 roller and an aluminum 4.6 4v. From what I read this combination isn't problem for CMC and AI. The rest of this car is coming from the junkyard. Perhaps someone has done a car like this before. I will always take all the advice I can get. Thanks

Hi Brandon, do you have any specific questions?

4 valve is not CMC legal. https://nasa-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/do ... 017_V1.pdf

If you are thinking more of a budget or junkyard build , than that lends itself more to CMC.
Tons of information available, but unfortunately, you will need to jump around on a couple different sites
For AI stuff, look on this forum.
For CMC stuff, look here http://cmc.nasaforums.com/index.php
And info on both look here http://www.aicmctexas.com/forum.php
Do a search
Where are you located?

The 4v is legal, just not in a Fox.

I'm located in Dallas Texas. Thanks for all the good information. That's unfortunate to hear that particular combination won't work. I love the sound of four valve engines. It reminds me of old Italian race cars. Paired with the cobra IRS you end up with my idea of a proper track car. which was my original plan. But after I saw the videos on YouTube of what you guys do. I absolutely have got to get in on some of that.
I don't particularly want the car to be a junkyard build, but as the car sits, it needs pretty much everything. I figured that was a good starting point something I'm not that sure about all of the sudden... I like the fox body because of its weight and all the quick modern suspension upgrades for cheep. I found this car for the low low price of only $250. The engine is out of a 98 cobra which is all that I've got for it now. I was thinking a Sulvan intake with a 650 double pumper on top of that 4v. With the MSD mod 6 ignition controller. I was considering going all out with a close ratio t56 from American powertrain. The roll cage will be built by me and a buddy (trained welders). Bilstine coil overs and a pan hard bar bolted to an 8.8 out of a gt to rap it all up. I would like to race in this upcoming season. I'll take all the advice you guys can throw at me.

Man, if you want to W2W race in TX you REALLY need to go check out the CMC class (Camaro Mustang Challenge). That class is absolute huge down there and a blast to run. As stated, a foxbody is allowed, or that 4V....just not together. I run it in Mid Atlantic and love it. The groups are very helpful (while bustin your balls) and the class is affordable. Seriously, go to a NASA race and go introduce yourself to a couple of the drivers. Tell them your there to learn and determine which class you want to build for. FWIW: There are $100,000 AI cars out there.........I've never competed against/seen a $20,000 CMC car.

Thanks t500hps and D Algozine for your imput. I've been thinking... CMC is where I need to be. But for the CMC I will need to put a 302 with that t56 and the limited slip 8.8 . I'm going to take your advice and find a race and introduce myself and do some more homework. Sounds like awesome way to spend a weekend! A 302 will be alot cheaper anyway. Ill start building this thing in a few months. Ill post up pics as i go.

We will be in Hallet, OK on the 24th of June. Come out and say "hi".
Also, the TX region CMC Director, Michael Mosty, as well as myself live in the DFW metroplex. Our cell numbers are at the back of our respective rulesets if you ever have any questions.

A FOX with a 4.6 and an IRS would definitely be American Iron territory. We field 6-10 cars per event. CMC is between 12-18 cars per event.
