I don't think I've ever seen that wall there during a normal event - I know in the past I've run wide there after trying to pass someone at the line and done a little dirt time out there. IMHO, it's better without the wall for most every foreseeable situation.

If that wall were there during Nasa weekends, I think there'd be alot of paint on it, including some red off of my car.
I'm sure Infineon's experts have it addressed, but I vote for mirroring what's on the other side of the hill, to the right as your rounding Carousel. A tire barrier further back by the base of the hill allowing room for runoff but keeping cars from going up the hill. Maybe some deep "beach" in the open area before the wall to soften impact.
Didn't Richard Petty have a bad head-on with a tirewall in about the same place way back when?

Curious, anyone know how the driver is doing these days? Or what changes have been made to the track, if any?

edit: From a few youtube videos posted of 2/14, surprisingly nothing has been done.

Angelo had just passed me when he went airborne. I have it on video. Very scary. I'll get it up on YouTube today and come back here and post the link.

Best wishes to Angelo for a speedy recovery.

Here's the LINK to the video. I was farther back than I thought but you can see the trail of dust and the car spinning in the air if you play it full screen.

damn that was crazy....
