"CAR"-DI GRAS AT NOLA MOTORSPORTS PARK CANCELLED

After evaluating facility preparedness, NOLA Motorsports Park has decided to cancel the New Year's "Car"-di Gras event.

December 6, 2011 - Avondale, LA -- Construction at NOLA Motorsports Park is winding down as the facility nears completion. After evaluating the track's ability to provide a first class experience, General Manager Mitch Wright decided to cancel what would be the first NASA event over the New Years holiday. Mitch Wright commented, "We are very excited about this new facility and everything that it brings to the area. We will settle for nothing short of a first class experience. The end of construction and beginning of operations is in sight, but we feel that our standards for a remarkable experience would not be fulfilled for this event".

Fortunately I live less than an hour away (and am a NMSP employee), so I had no travel or hotel reservations to cancel. My credit card has already been credited by Kelly.

Looks like we're going to have to just eat the lost airfare. Ugh. Won't refund us and the change fee is more than the original ticket costs, so much for planning ahead to get a good deal...

What went so sideways with construction that we were told since October onward up until a few days ago that the event would be fine, but now things are so messed up and behind that the first event won't be until March?

Where did you hear March from? I know the Ferrari Club Racing Assocication is planning an event there the third week of Feb and they believe that is still happening

hmm, viewing their calendar as directed in subsequent posts has events as early as mid January (unless those get cancelled like ours... ). However the question still stands, what made construction go so sideways that we went from "Don't worry it'll be ready" to "Oops, nope it won't"?

I had hoped this new track opening would be different than others and even put my money where my mouth was on it not only for myself but also by spreading the word and talking others into attending as well. Live and learn I guess.
