I am looking to buy an enclosed trailer at least 8.5 x 20 to transport my BMW 330ci. Would the size of this trailer be big enough for my car?

Also planning to pull the trailer with an F150 2003 5.4 engine 3:55 diff.

Will the car fit? Yes. Can you fit some tools? Yes but it won't give you a lot of room.

Can you tow it with that truck? What's the GCWR?

GCWR is 12.5 or 13k. Truck is probably in the 7500 pound range. So your towing capacity is 5-5500. Your car weighs approx 3000...that means the trailer can't be more than 2-2500. That's with NOTHING but the truck, trailer, car...nothing additional in the trailer OR the truck. No clothes, no gas, no tools, no crew, nothing.

I doubt that an 03 F150 weighs that much. My 2008 F250 SuperCab diesel weighs 7200lbs with 1/2 tank. The 150 should be quite a bit less.

I agree with gobuffs assessment on the car fitting in the trailer. It will fit, but little room for other stuff. With a 1998 F150 5.4 4wd extended cab, I used to pull a Mustang Cobra (3200lbs) in an 18' enclosed. Little room for anything else, but it fit. Similar size as a 330. The truck will do it, but be patient when pulling out in traffic and give yourself PLENTY of room to brake. Also, be very aware of your load leveling and where the car is sitting in the trailer.

John-like others said the car will certainly fit but how much extra room do you want? Generally whatever room we end up having gets filled with stuff-whether trailer, home, attic, garage, etc. Add up how many extras you would plan on bringing-tires, tools, coolers, pit bike, a/c, generator, etc. It all adds up.
Also suggest checking whether you would want 5k lb axles or the 3,500 lb axles. My open steel trailer weighs 2,600 and most encloseds will weigh more. There are some bare bones 2,800 lb enclosed trailers but I question if that is really accurate.

Now I generally cringe when I see half tons towing an enclosed trailer though I have given it thought recently but only with a lightweight aluminum trailer and not as many spares. With my first 24' enclosed I towed it with a 99 3/4 454 Suburban. It would pull it but then the trailer seemed to take over and pushed the truck around both from a braking and handling point of view. It didn't bother me too much but some people might have been pretty white knuckled and worn out after towing that way. Next I used a 08 GMC 3/4 Duramax pickup and it seemed like a breeze so I ended up moving to a 04 3/4 Suburban (better brakes/suspension than the 99) but it was also swapped with a Duramax/Allison/Diff so plenty of power. Have since switched to a 28' Enclosed pretty loaded and it handles it well.

It isn't always how it does driving down a nice flat stretch of road at 65 without much wind or traffic but how is it when you have to really brake, encounter wind, or traffic if the truck can't control the trailer.

Do you currently tow to the track or drive the car? Do you want the enclosed to stay in at the track, protect the car, more spares, etc?

I have an an aluminum enclosed trailer that would suit your needs

It is 18 foot + a 3 foot V nose. 2,500 lbs - so nearly 1,000 lbs lighter than a steel enclosed.
3 years old, stored in an indoor, heated garage, and with built in, fold away tire racks over the car. This fits my 944 well, with a good amount of room ahead of it, since the tires are up out of the way. One pic shows more tires in front of the car - I was bringing 3 & 1/2 sets to the track this last weekend to sell a few tires.
