Hi all-

Several have asked about this lately so in an attempt to minimize confusion, here goes.

NASA's new Eastern Championships for TT and roadracing are at Road Atlanta on August 29-31, 2014. Registration opens April 1st. See http://nasachampionships.com/ .

This will also be a regional points championship weekend for Florida TT'ers and roadracers.

To qualify for these Eastern Championships, as I was told by Will Faules @ national (see viewtopic.php?f=96&t=127591 ), in addition to a current membership and license of course, you will need:

Race: 4 race results or 3 races and 1 TT result

TT: 4 TT results

TT'ers will need to compete at both the March Sebring and June Sebring weekends to qualify since each competition day generates one set of results. Racers, however, can get it done in one weekend. You see, since our March weekend is a "double double" with two races a day listed on the schedule that's already posted (see links at http://www.drivenasafl.com/scheduleresults/sebring/ ), any racer can knock that requirement out quickly. June should be the same. So basically if you're a racer and planning to compete in the Eastern Championships, there are 8 championship-qualifier races available at Sebring during our March and June weekends... do half those and you're good to go!

Thanks & hope it helps,

Jon

Today I was asked what exactly at these championships will count toward regional points. Great question!

For TT'ing it will be your fastest time of the weekend, which will be treated like one big event day.

For racing it will be your finishing positions in the last two races - namely the big final championship race and the final qualifying race before that.

Across the board you are only competing regionally for points against other members of our region. That is, if there are three Florida region members in the same class and they finish 5th and 11th and 19th in class in a race, they still get 1st-2nd-3rd place points regionally (not 5th-11th-19th place points.)

Any other questions, please ask anytime. Thanks again and see ya next month at Road Atlanta!
